| The Ihlara Valley is a truly remarkable sight, a diverse array of trees, including Pistachio, line the banks of the Melendiz River as it snakes its way through an incredible gorge. The villages around here offer you an authentic glimpse of traditional Anatolian life. Arguably the most dramatic of these is Belisirma. This quiet little village is built right up against the cliff edge, the views are spectacular if a little virtigo inducing.
Once a popular retreat for byzantine monks the canyon contains dozens of interesting churches cut into the rocks and covered in colourful frescoes.
