The Seven Churches of Revelation and Cappadocia
Turkey is a country with a rich Biblical past. It is here that you can see the first churches of the Apostle Paul: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Sardis, Philadelphia, Thyatira and Laodicea. These Seven Churches form the core of this tour which we flesh out further with magical landscapes, inspiring coastlines, other classical sites, excellent food and accommodations. We also visit the legendary Troy, the charming hilltop village of Assos, Konya, the home of Whirling Dervishes, and we immerse you in the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia with its many frescoed monastries and churches cut out of rocks. To cap it all off, an optional hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia.

With small groups, relaxed atmosphere and free time along the way to explore select locations at your own pace.

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL in ISTANBUL
Transfer to your hotel. Free evening. D.

DAY 2 - ISTANBUL - The Classics
Visit Haghia Sophia, the most influential church of Byzantium. Visit the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome. Explore the grand Topkapi Palace, residence of Ottoman Sultan's until the 19th century. Overnight in Istanbul. B.L.D

DAY 3 - CHORA - CANAKKALE
Follow the Theodosian City Walls. Continue to the Spring of Life (Orthodox Shrine). Visit the Church of Chora with its stunning Biblical mosaics. After lunch at the wonderful Asitane restaurant depart Istanbul for Canakkale crossing the Dardanelles. Overnight in Canakkale. B.L.D

DAY 4 - TROY - ASSOS - AYVALIK
First stop this morning is Troy, the legendary city of Homer. We continue to the hilltop village of Assos and visit the Temple of Athena. Assos was the setting for Aristotle's first school of philosophy. Overnight in Assos. B.L.D.

DAY 5 - PERGAMON - THYATIRA - SARDIS
Visit the PERGAMON Acropolis, Altar of Zeus and the remains of the Great Library. See the Red Basilica, once a temple of Serapis. Continue to THYATIRA another of the Seven Churches. Then visit SARDIS and the temple of Artemis. Overnight in Izmir. B.L.D.

DAY 6 - EPHESUS - HOUSE OF MARY
We will make a visit to Izmir, SMYRNA, then continue for a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary, followed by EPHESUS, with the Library of Celsius, Temple of Hadrian, Agora and the fantastic theatre. We then visit the Basilica of St. John and the remains of the Temple of Artemis, which used to be known as one of Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Overnight in Izmir. B.L.D.

DAY 7 - PHILADELPHIA - LAODICIA
Drive to PHILADELPHIA and also visit LAODICIA. Continue to Pamukkale with its impressive calcium terraces and see the ancient site of Hierapolis, the Temple of Apollo, Theatre, Martyrium of St. Phillip and an extensive Necropolis. Overnight in Pamukkale. B.L.D.

DAY 8 - PAMUKKALE - KONYA
Depart for Konya. It was here that Celaleddin Rumi founded the Sufi Whirling Dervishes. Overnight in Konya. B.L.D.

DAY 9 - KONYA - CAPPADOCIA
Drive along the old Silk Route, via the Selcuk Caravanserai before arriving in Cappadocia. Visit Selime, a village of rock cones and a two-story colonnaded rock monastery. Lunch on the Melendez River in Ihlara Valley. Take a stroll along the scenic gorge flanked by sheer rock walls. Overnight in Goreme Cave Hotel. B.L.D.

DAY 10 - CAVE CHURCHES
Visit enchanting fairy chimneys and surreal valleys, see the Goreme Open Air Museum, once a Byzantine monastery, and fine examples of religious frescoes in rock-cut churches from the 10th century. Take a short walk in Rose Valley then continue to Avanos, famous for its pottery since 3000 BC. Overnight in Cappadocia. B.L.D

DAY 11 - GÖREME
A free day to explore this wonderful town at your own pace. Evening flight to Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul. B.

DAY 12 - ISTANBUL
Free day or optional tour of Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul. B.

DAY 13 - DEPARTURE
Tour ends after breakfast. Transfer to airport for departure. B.
