Antalya
City and State
Antalya
is both a city, Turkeys 5th largest, and a state. It is located in
the South of the country on what is often referred to as Turkey's
Riviera or turquoise coast. The old walled city is interesting with
Ottoman buildings dating back 200 years in addition to a fascinating
archaeological museum that is most certainly worth a visit. The state
is bathed in sunshine for 300 days a year and blessed with some of
the best beaches in the country.
Antalya is a region full of fascinating archaeological wonders,
beautiful villages and impressive national parks. The hotel arranges
guided day tours for those who would like to explore the surrounding
area.
Trekking
The trek to the summit of Mount Tahtali is a thrilling way to spend
half a day in Antalya Province. The walk takes around 4-6 hours or
so from the starting point in the village of Beycik. If you do not
want to walk back down again, you can take the cable car which runs
every 20 minutes or so - see photo.
Scuba Diving
Plenty of spots to dive around the coast, with very experienced
dive schools where you can get PADI certification or simply go for
a pleasure dive. Antalya has several options in town, and the town
of Kas, some 3 hours drive from Antalya city centre is also a particularly
good diving resort.
