| Cappadocia is also one
of the worlds oldest inhabited places, recent evidence traces human
presence back some 10'000 years. The region has great historical and
religious significance. Fleeing persecution from Romans early christians
took refuge in the region. The soft rock enabled them to build cave houses,
complex underground cities to hide in and hundreds of churches cut out of rock.
Thousands of years ago Mount Erciyes erupted, its lava covered an area of
some 20,000 square km. For hundreds of years the region encountered unprecedented
wind and water erosion. Soil was washed away but the rocks able to withstand
the erosion stayed behind in bizarre and wonderful formations. Today, with
its surreal, fairytale landscape, Cappadocia is a place that offers astonishing
natural beauty. Cappadocia is simply unique, whilst there may be many amazing
beaches, forests, jungles in the world, there is only one place like this.
The Balloon Team
These
flights are conducted for Journey Anatolia by the legendary Kapadokya

Every flight is a wonderful adventure as you float majestically
over this surreal land feeling the stillness of the world, hearing
the distant sound of villages waking up beneath your sunrise pass.
This unique environment provides excellent conditions for balloon

the landscape, you have the opportunity to fly low amongst the fascinating

The
burners in an hot air balloon generally run on propane. They emit
some pollutants, including carbon dioxide. However, the amount
of pollutants emitted by balloon burners is small compared to cars,
motor boats, coaches etc. In the big picture hot air balloons have
a very small effect on the environment. If you would like to learn
about how you could help clean up your CO2 emissions please visit
