For over a decade DJ Cliffy have been recognized as one of the leading Brazilian & world music deejays in the UK resulting in performances in over thirty countries at major venues like Sydney Opera House and at music festivals across Europe taking in Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz Festival. He is behind two of London's longest running club-nights Batmacumba and Future World Funk. As one half of globtrotting deejay collective Future World Funk DJ Cliffy is responsible for over a dozen album projects including the hugely successful Future World Funk compilation series which has sold over 100, 000 copies. As one of Europe's leading Brazilian music deejays he is behind the Black Rio album series on Strut records which brings together rare funk and soul from Seventies Brazil, an area he has been researching for over a decade through numerous trips to the country. Black Rio Volume 2 received a worldwide release in Summer 2009. DJ Cliffy has also released a series of singles under the artistic name Sugarloaf Gangsters alongside Spiritual South. For several years he contributed Brazilian music features to the seminal jazz and world music magazine Straight No Chaser and currently writes for Songlines and FACT magazines.
