We welcome back Gilles Peterson with masses of excitement for May 2010. It will be a year since his mind blowing 4 hour set at SunSplash Antalya 2009, where he decisively rocked the club room despite his beloved Arsenal losing to Man Utd in the Champions League semi final earlier that evening. A sign of a true pro! Those of us walking out of that dance with our mouths open were left wondering what might have happened if Arsenal had actually won! It has to be said, Peterson is a heavyweight, a jazz king, a soul pusher, a funk force who has helped to define and inspire great club music for some 3 decades. Behind groundbreaking labels like Acid Jazz, Talking Loud, Brownswood Records, and the excellent compilations with which he has enlightened thousands around the world, Peterson still continues to expand and challenge musical convention. His latest Havana Cultura project in one such example, and showcases the deeper, contemporary sound of Cuba.
